Spring break is here!! Your children have been working so hard
learning all that they can, and they deserve the break. Please enjoy
your time with your child, encourage them to read and get outside
and play. And we will see everyone back here for the last stretch of
the school year on Monday, April 4th.
State Academic Assessment (CMAS)
When we return from Spring Break, the students will begin
taking Colorado’s online assessment, also known as PARCC.
This assessment is for ALL students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.
All students will be tested in reading and writing the week of
April 4th and math the week of April 11th. 5th grade will also
take a science test the week of April 18th. Testing times are:
8:40 – 10:30 for 3rd graders, 10:40 – 12:00 for 5th graders, and
1:20 – 3:00 for 4th graders. Please be aware of the dates, so
you can make sure your child attends each day on time and is
not pulled early. Students do better on assessments when they
test with their class. Here are some ways that you can ensure
that your child is a successful test taker:

Limit activities the night before each test.
Provide healthy foods that support brain function and
provide energy like protein (meat, eggs, yogurt, cheese,
milk), fruits, and vegetables.
Be sure your child gets to bed on time for a good night’s
rest.
Explain to him/her the importance of doing their best on
the test.
Remind them to take their time and answer every
question.

Kindergarten registration for the
2016-2017 school year is now open
at Jackson. Please stop in the
office and pick up a registration
packet during regular business
hours. Registration goes from
April 4th - April 29th.
Incoming kindergarten students
must be 5 years old by October 1,
2016 in order to register for next
year. Parents need to provide a
birth certificate, immunization
record, proof of address, and
photo identification.
Social Skills
We believe in preparing your child with
the skills they need to be successful in
our community. One of the ways we
do this is by teaching and enforcing
various social skills throughout the year.
This month, we are working on:
 Sharing Something: How do you ask
for something someone is using? How
do you respond when someone wants
something?
 Showing Respect: What do you do
when someone asks you to stop doing
something that is bothering them?
