Clay Workshops for Older Adults
Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Try something new, or brush up on your skills
during our day workshops. Learn how to create on a potter's wheel or with handbuilding techniques. Our instructors are patient, flexible, and accommodating of your
needs in order to guide you through a creative process. All abilities are welcome!

Looking to find new ways to manage stress? Experience a clay workshop that
integrates basic mindfulness techniques with art making. Together we will practice a
brief meditation along with the creation of your own ceramic finger labyrinth. Come

about surviving mental illness and violence, struggling with loss, finding courage for
recovery, and discovering the beauty inside each one of

Wheel-Throwing Workshops
10 Weeks
Tuesday Classes start September 13
Wednesday Classes start September 14
7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Join instructor Eric Wolff for one of these 10-week* workshops. For
beginners, we will cover the basics of throwing clay on the potter's wheel. We explore
standard forms and techniques, and build on them as we move to intermediate skills
and activities.
This class is appropriate for new students with little or no clay experience, as well as
those with a clay background, old or new, who want to hone their skills and learn
some new tips and tricks, and move on to more advanced methods.
$300 per person (inclusive of all materials and instruction)
*Tuesday class skips 10/25 due to instructor absence. Last scheduled class is 11/21.
*Wednesday class skips 10/26 due to instructor absence, and 11/23 due to "Thanksgiving Eve."
Last scheduled class is 11/30.
Ceramic Jewelry Classes

Pit-Fire-Palooza
Sunday, September 25: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and
Friday, September 30: 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. (2 Days)
Experience clay firing the way it was first done by early man.
On Sunday, firing day, bring 6-8 medium-sized bisqued pots ready
to prepare for loading into the barrels for the main pit fire. On Friday, unloading day,
we dig out, clean, and finish the pots.
$90 per person includes all firing and finishing materials (but feel free to bring your
own, too)
Please note this is an adult event.

Wheel-Throwing Mini-Clinics
Sundays, October 9 & 16, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (2 weeks)
Sundays, November 6 & 13, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. (2 weeks)
Get a taste of the potter's wheel in one of these 2-week
experiences. The first week we learn the basics to make pottery on
the wheel. The second week we trim and finish your creations.
These sessions are great if you are new to clay on the wheel or if you have a clay
past and want to see if you've still got it.
$100 per person, per mini-clinic (all inclusive/unlimited supplies)
Clinics are limited to 5 students. They fill up fast, so reserve soon!
Mini-Clinic students signing up for a full Wheel Workshop within 6 months receive a
$30 discount on their first regular Wheel Workshop at full tuition. (Not applicable to
prorated fees.)
Grounds for Creativity Workshop
Saturday, October 8, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and
Friday, October 14, 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Explore the wonders of Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ. You
get to wander the amazing art installations and landscapes, taking in all the wonderful
creations the Grounds has to share.
The following Friday evening, we get back together at the studio where you can
create your own work of art inspired by your favorite parts of the sculpture and
architecture at the park.
$125 per person, paid in advance, reserved before September 9.
Fee includes:
Transportation to and from GFS
Admission to GFS
Sketchbook and pencils for the GFS visit
All materials and firing for the clay workshop
This is an adult program.
Note: GFS does not allow outside food, but has several on-site food options
available.
